Nauvoo

Next stop...Nauvoo!  This was one of my favorite stops.  Loved the cute little town and all of the things to see here. 

The adults enjoyed a session in the Temple.  The ones old enough did baptisms for the dead.  The Temple was beautiful and the spirit was powerful.

I am going to have to get some pictures from Rebecca of all of the sites we saw in Nauvoo!  We saw so many historical places and shows and also saw the pageant before we left.  Here is a little map of some of the sites we saw!

Some favorites of the sites....Ginger Bread cookies from the bakery. The Brick yard where the kids got nail rings.  The carriage ride through some sites.  For sure the Temple!  The kids were finally able to swim.  And it was nice to visit while eating and watching the kids swim.

 Going to have to ask dad if he know anything about Mrs. W. Hand who died crossing the plains.

Family Vacation 2011

 This July we went on a fantastic trip.  Jim's mom and step dad offered to take us all on a church history tour.  In the Caravan was Dave and Judy, Ken (and fam), John (and fam), and Jim (and us).  Norine and her family were missed and thought of often.  First stop was Liberty jail.

 The tours by the missionaries were great and I cannot think of a place that we did not feel the spirit. (although it was stronger in some places).   Liberty Jail was where the Prophet Joseph Smith spent approximately five months awaiting trial. While there, he received three revelations that are included in the Doctrine and Covenants.

 As I was taking this picture I noticed that my boys were being silly!  It is pretty cool that it was the original key. But it also leaves one with a sense of sadness for what the men had to endure there!
